The ports of Luanda and Antwerp-Bruges Internacional discussed the inclusion of new topics that should be included in the consultancy protocol, to give greater efficiency to the Angolan port, making it the most sustainable in the region.
The discussion took place at the Port Administration facilities, on the 19th of January, during the delivery of the reports produced by the Port of Antwerp-Bruges International, within the scope of the consultancy contract with the Port of Luanda, in the field of environmental management, sustainability, among others.
On the occasion, the team of Belgian consultants, led by the managing director of the Port of Antwerp, Kristof Waterschoot, presented the results of the strategic review, addressed the strengthening of the long-term partnership and presented the topics that should be included in the existing memorandum between the two institutions.
Trajectory for digital innovation, within the scope of digitization and automation, port tariff policy, implementation of sustainability and environmental recommendations, ISO 14001, as well as standard 45001 are the new topics proposed to be included in the consultancy contract, so that the Port of Luanda gains more efficiency and becomes the most sustainable in the region.
The chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Port of Luanda, Alberto Bengue, who was accompanied by the directors of the Strategy, Safety and Environment and Infrastructure, Works and Supply departments, formed a team to present other topics to be included in the consulting, beyond what the consultants suggested.
“In addition to what was presented to us to include in the consulting contract, there are more topics that, in our view, will help us to gain more efficiency and become more sustainable”, he explained.
Furthermore to discussing the inclusion of new topics, the meeting with the Port of Antwerp delegation also addressed the next steps of the partnership with the Port of Luanda, assistance in obtaining the EcoPorts certificate, among others.
